Profile
Like many people I began to paint later in life. This is probably due to the time constraints forced upon us by having to work for a living etc, etc. Since around 2002 I've been devoting more and more time to try and reach a level where the problems of developing skills are replaced by the lighter concerns of subject and theme. My first introduction to personally trying to paint came when my mother off-loaded some unwanted canvasses and oils having lost interest in them herself. I can safely say that from this moment on I've never really looked back. At first I began to try and capture landscapes and almost immediately became burried in the complexities of trying to master accurate renditions of trees. An easy way out was to restrict my views to winter scapes to avoid the nightmares associated with the depth and light issues connected with foliage. Later and with many observations and trials under my belt ,the attempts at summer trees began to evolve. This evolution continues and is lightened by excursions into the world of seascapes. As one might imagine, the sea can also supply a seemingly endless array of difficulties to overcome .But I've found that switching between the two subjects keeps morale up when enthusiasm is dampened by what what can often seem like intolerably slow progress. Another passion of mine is sketching in ink. I've included a few on this site to add a little interest and diversity. Please feel free to comment on these pages as its always useful to gain insight from others impressions and thanks for your time and interest.
